CHA ACTIVITIES & RESOURCES

Online Orientation for Short-Term Medical Mission Trips
CHA has a new online orientation program for people participating in international health care mission trips. The video modules are designed to enrich the short-term mission experience by increasing cultural competence and awareness of perceptions on both sides of the host and volunteer relationship. The modules compliment other resources CHA has developed that can assist in orientation — including the booklet, A Reflection Guide for International Health Activities. The CHA offering is available 24/7 so that volunteers can gain important insights prior to and just after their trip as their schedules permit. It was designed to be used to augment current orientation programs, as well as for self use.

CHA Disaster Response Meeting
CHA hosted a two-day conference at CHRISTUS Health's headquarters July 25-26, 2018. "When Disasters Strike: A Special Convening for International and Domestic Response" drew dozens of Catholic health care and social service leaders from throughout the U.S. to share lessons, insights and challenges when responding as hospitals, long-term care facilities and health systems in times of disaster both domestically and internationally. Read more about the meeting and listen to a CHA podcast featuring several of the meeting presenters. In early 2019 CHA will release a white paper detailing the meeting and potential outcomes.
